So, since we watched Solo Mio on Valentine's Day, we decided to subscribe to Angel's streaming service. There are several perks to our subscription. The most obvious is we get a variety of new programs to watch at home. Angel has tiers to their subscription package, and one of those tiers includes a number of tickets to see movies they release in theaters as well. That's the tier we selected--it remains to be seen if we chose the best value or not.
We have been delving into the offerings for streaming here at home. One of the first movies we saw in our menu was Homestead starring Neal McDonough. I don't know about you, but I love to watch Neal McDonough onscreen. I have since I was first introduced to his work years ago when he was in Tin Man--a series that was a new take on the Wizard of Oz (one of my all-time favorites). Since then, any time I've seen his name on the cast list, I've been excited to watch the show or movie. So, you can imagine my reaction when I saw the cast list for Homestead.
This movie also features another of my favorites, Bailey Chase. I remember way back when he played Christopher Hughes on the daytime drama As the World Turns. Then I watched him in both Saving Grace and Longmire. Another actor that I'm going to watch just about anything he's in onscreen.
I did a segment about Homestead on my husband's radio show, so I wanted to post about it here as well. Homestead is a movie that will make you assess your life choices. What would you do if the world as you know it was ending? Would you panic? Would you be prepared? Would you land somewhere between those two possibilities? Those questions are some you may ask yourself after watching the movie.
If you like post-apocalyptic movies, you might enjoy this one. Neal McDonough portrays Ian, a doomsday prepper with a large compound in Colorado. Bailey Chase portrays Jeff Eriksson, a former Green Beret that Ian has hired to be head of security at his compound should anything cataclysmic happen. As the movie opens, we become aware that tensions are high in the Eriksson family, but that soon takes a back seat to the events happening around them. When there is a nuclear attack on Los Angeles, the Eriksson family, along with former members of Jeff's Green Beret unit travel to Colorado to take their posts as Ian's security team at the compound.
New questions arise as the Eriksson's and their team of former soldiers arrive at the compound. Questions about safety, food supply, and who should be allowed inside. Unfortunately, the movie doesn't really answer those questions for us. Maybe the series that follows the action of the movie will answer those questions and develop the characters further. I'm certainly going to find out.
